OR-58 to US-97 to bypass southern Oregon

Is Jakes Truck Stop still in Bend? Used to have good food,and great soup served in a bowl the size of a giant hubcap. Nice,quiet sleeping in the back row,among the pines.

I’ve never been there. I just looked on trucker path and didn’t see anything for whatever that’s worth. From your description I’d love to stop there.

 

Thanks,I just googled it,looks like it closed some years ago,but the diner reopened under the same name,in a different location,not a truckstop anymore. O well.
Used to be right on 97,on the right going north. WAS a nice place,another one bites the dust.

Probably the same way I do because I used to take that route all the time when I worked for the last company I was with because they were based out of Hermiston. Last time I had to go down that Highway I had to chain up in Madras and take the chains off in Klamath Falls. That particular winter was a pretty bad one there were several accidents and fatalities that winter.

 

Actually today, 97 was in great shape even though it got quite a bit of snow and wind this morning. The road was dry from Biggs Jct. to Bend, then wet from Bend to Chelmuth, where it was it little slushy, then it went from wet to dry from Chelmuth to the CA line
