Obviously if you have real mechanical issues like a leak or physically damage I don’t expect it to bypass those
But for sensor or circuit codes, particularly emission related , will the tool pretty much be able to bypass all of them?
I currently have multiple codes that I will attach in post
A lot SHOULD be covered under warranty but will it be best to just get the tool and run for a few weeks or get it fixed right away.
The truck currently(knock on wood) has not derated yet and i have driven 300 miles since the codes came on
I’m going to a dealership. Seeing the price and cost to fix. If it cost more than what the tool cost I plan to just buy the tool, but not if it won’t be able to bypass.
OTR reset tool- are their any codes that it WONT bypass

No experience with that product, but I don’t think it will help with the codes you have.
The 9 is for abnormal update rate. You may have a problem with a harness or possibly a failing acm.
Either way it’s probably going to get worse. -
I pay for the yearly subscription. It not only allows you to clear codes but also will tell you the sensor needed to fix the issue etc etc.
Definitely worth it IMO if you have a basic tool set and don't mind crawling under the truck to change out a NOX sensor or something like that.North Pole Nightmare and DAX_ Thank this. -

I cleared it once or twice then on the 3rd time it came on I knew the sensor was definitely bad, replaced, and it's never come on again.
Sometimes the codes are bogus "ghost codes" that's why I always clear them once ( or twice) if needed before wasting money on a new sensor.
Not sure about a 100% full diagnostic, but I'd say pretty close in terms of fault codes for DPF-aftertreatment issues...
IMO, one single use of the OTR tool per year more than pays for itself. Definitely wouldn't be rolling around the country without one. It's certainly peace of mind.
Diesel Dave, OlegMel, DAX_ and 1 other person Thank this. -
Here's another from when I needed a NOX sensor and truck was in derate mode.
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
I just bought one a month ago, they were on sale for $499,paid for itself already.
Diesel Dave, DAX_ and JonJon78 Thank this. -
This video has a $100 off coupon code in the description for the reset tool. Not sure if it still works but worth a try if you plan on purchasing it.
DAX_ Thanks this. -
