Our profession is doomed unless drivers organize

So are we going to organize or organise? I won’t do the first one but I’m in for the second one.

 

I'm all for organizing a line of a baker's dozen of Kentuckians on my lawn by dusk. Who's down?

While I completely agree with your organize comment, I feel you are doing a great disservice to this industry by leaving it. Someone has to stand up to all of these junk OTR companies! Why don't you stand up and start an organizing campaign against the company you work for? Why would you ask others to do something and not do it yourself? I know why, it's to #### hard right? BS! It's been done before and it's being done today.

I work for a company that's been organized (Teamster). I enjoy a M-F work week, pay in the mid 90k, 12 sick days, 6 weeks of vacation, a retirement that is paid for by the company and medical, dental and vision for $208.00 per month among others benefits.

Anyone with any intellect can see that the majority of the trucking companies out there are just junk! Unfortunately for the drivers, the companies know that there are willing drivers waiting to fill the seats. The companies promise them roses and then hand them manure. And they seem to like it. They like a good strong whiff of it!

Stand up for once in your life! Do the right thing! Fight for your fellow drivers!

 

Cool thread. A clean honest union would be nice. I put in my two week notice last friday 6/14/19 with a tanker company, been there almost 3 years, no accident, no tickets, never a bad DOT, had great relashionships with customers, busted ### to make my times and the following Monday 6/17/19 TM said "we dont have to accept your two week notice, go ahead and clean out your truck." Right to work is terrible for workers and unions shouldnt be allowed in the public service sector. Somewhere somehow sh** got turned backwards, right to work should be public service unions should be private sector.

 

I doubt it will ever happen again. Truckdrivers had it better than most for a good while. Too bad Union corruption ruined the Teamsters. What happened is truly a SHAME. Greed is the main reason for all the problems we have in this industry. It affects everyone involved.Theres enough blame to go around, everyone from the leaders to the drivers are to blame. Now look at what choices We have. Ain’t what it used to be. Can’t have your cake and eat it too. Greed.

 

Show me 1 example of that.
