Old people take time to adapt to changes. A couple weeks ago I was told to go drop off these cattle south of town by a 60 year old rancher. The directions were to make a left as soon as I cross under a railroad bridge. 16' tall he said so Clearance wouldn't be an issue. Well I get about 6 miles south of town on this dirt road and cross a highway and theirs no bridge in sight.

So I give him a call and he tells me its just south of town. I say ok coming on back. I come back up the only dirt road going south of town and still can't find it so I pull down a dirt road to back across the dirt road I'm on to go back and look again.

At this point a young hand sees my plight and ask if I'm having trouble finding the place. We get to talking and he proceeds to tell me I gotta turn left as soon as I cross where the old Rail road bridge used to be. I say "used to be??". He says yeah they tore it out before I was born.

Sadly, in my opinion, the days of Outlaw Trucking are coming to a close. There's just too much risk involved in the event of an accident, even if it's not an "at fault" incident. Somebody runs in to an "Outlaw" and gets killed, pretty soon lawyers are digging and finding out that the driver shouldn't have been at the scene in the first place. Poof, business up in flames and possible jail time.

It's a shame that the government forces drivers to work when tired (gotta maximize hours to make money if on ELD's), but I guess it's now our responsibility to be rested when on duty. I'd much rather it be in MY hands than someone else's.

The only reason I was curious how long you been driving because I wanted to ask questions about when trucking was trucking.I find it impressive with some of the stories I've heard.

truckon and Diesel Dave Thank this.

Well, there are lots of stories, and I'm not a very good story teller. Also I would only be incriminating myself.;)

    Just start the story

    "So this buddy of mine"

Or if it's really bad start off with
"So my buddy's buddy knew a guy who"
