    Lucky Owner-Operator Trucker SuperFan Wins a Free Peterbilt Rig – The Pros and Cons of Being an Owner-Operator | Plaintif

    Wow, lol. This is amazing! I didn't even know manufacturers just randomly gave out free EXPENSIVE rigs just because. This dude literally won a house lol. And it's easier than winning the lottery because there were only 1,500 people who applied.

    I'd say he didn't really need it because he already had 2 rigs... but I mean, the dude was hardcore and even had a Peterbilt museum. He deserved it, ya... but the story would've been cooler if it was like a 21 year old who just got out of CDL school then suddenly becomes a fully paid owner-operator XD

    The best part is he isn’t even going to use it for work!

    It’s going to be a showcase piece.

    After seeing it, he instantly decided he would not be driving it, and I can’t blame him. eBay auction here we come!

    From the article linked:

    "Most only become owner-operators after having been a truck driver for an average of 26 years. The average age of U.S. owner-operators is 37."

    Ok so here's my question...
    The guy won a vehicle, he has to pay the tax on said vehicle correct? Sales tax of im not mistaken? Being that he's an owner operator, will be not have to pay income tax on the vehicle?

    I'll bet it's for many different reasons.... but I would trade that p.o.s. away before I even put a plate on it.

    In looking at new replacement trucks for my 387.... Pete still does not make anything I would seriously consider. Prolly go with a T680 cause the roof won't piss me off every morning as the 387 does now, and the 579 ultraloft will do.

    @blue_ogre

    Those head lights kill it for me, the truck would honestly look better with the lights incorporated into the fender like the 386, especially since it’s a short hood. Also I dislike it when they run the muffler guard up that high, and this truck looks like a Coronado cousin.

    Not to mention the automatic transmission.

    REAL truck drivers don't do automatic, do they? ;-)

    Not gonna lie, after driving a couple 579’s, I really like them.
