Yes, it is a narrow 2 lane, running along a river and railroad tracks. No truck stops, except a few convience stores, make sure you have enough fuel and tire chains. Good Luck

One of the most beautiful drives in this country, but slow and windy. Truly God’s country. Enjoy!

If you got a 53 footer, you're supposed to get a permit. Idaho has some goofy off track rules. However, I've never been caught.

If you run all the way around to Boise and down to Winnemucca to get to Reno because it was more truck friendly you’re really not going to like 12. Narrow, 50 mph speed limit from the top of Lolo Pass to Lowell, you’re supposed to buy an offtrack permit if your trailer is over 48ft, no cell service from just outside of Lolo until about Kooskia, if you break down or have problems you’ll be sitting until someone comes along that you can have go to the 169, 139, or 120 mile markers where the call boxes are at.

Here’s a couple pics. I ran that road at least once a week for the better part of 10 years. It’s good running once you know the road and you know what 25mph corners mean 25 and what ones mean 30-35mph. Figure on about 3 hours from Lolo to Kooskia since you’re not familiar with the road or going up and over Lolo Pass.
