Less service and a 6% toll increase. That sounds like good plan. Ha ha. I read they also can't make the $450 million payment to the state. The drop in traffic has them in a little money problem. Maybe they will have cut some of the upper management. I think OOIDA once said they have a manager for every mile of toll road. Basically they have cazy overhead payroll.

Do they still charge by weight class? I can see how they could make a little more money.

They’ve BEEN HAVING problems. That’s why they’ve jacked up the tolls EVERY YEAR for the past 12 YEARS...
It’s a classic case of poor management as a whole.
With the Mass Pike now fully automated, and coming soon the New York Thruway system,Pennsylvania is now trying to streamline operations(which,we all know, generally isn’t in their vocabulary). The traffic drop due to the coronavirus just gave them more incentive to automate.

    bzinger and Brandt Thank this.

I see New Jersey is going to have a 35 to 40% toll increase coming up this year.

Not quite, they sent all the toll clerks home because of COVID.

Now, they figured they could save money by leaving them. (Does this mean the Turnpike Authority won't get PPP and have to pay it back?)

I will say, on the few occasions I've actually dealt with PA toll workers, I've found them to be friendly sorts. (But then, I grew up with NY/NJ to clerks.) So I wish them the best in their next endeavor. (And thank Wolf by voting him out!)

Now, after a few months go by and they get complacent, who wants to find where the wiring for the gantrys are and go to town with wire cutters?

*cough* did I say that out loud?
