It has been a long time since I've driven that stretch. Is that the place where drivers tend to crash? The detour sounds like a nightmare.

There’s been a crash at just about every spot on the road...but yes there’s couple of spots headed down the hill from Donegal to New Stanton where it twists up pretty good
And yes the posted detours bout 75 miles further than pike....course depending on where your comin from and goin there’s better alternatives Including a couple other routings between Breezewood and New StantonTadakatsu, JoeyJunk, Sons Hero and 1 other person Thank this. -

Usually the preferred spot to make a truck become “part of the scenery” is on the eastbound side after you come out of the Allegheny Mountain tunnel-that 45 mph immediate left hand curve throws A LOT of super truckers off!
