Hi All, looking to get some feed back on Paccar engines vs Cummins. What is your preference and why? Majority of the inventory out there is equipped with Paccar.

    Thanks

A truck with the mx is less expensive ....... And you only get screwed by one corporation when they deny the warranty claim.

considering Paccar doesn't meet emissions and is getting sued by any company that used em. because they were unreliable

The PACCAR uses the same aftertreatment system for emissions as the Cummins... I mean, exactly the same. Literally, same dosing injector, same DPF, same DEF doser, same SCR.
They made a lot of changes to the newer PACCAR engines, the first one I noticed being the location of the dosing injector. Driver opinions on the old ones tended to lean more towards the negative on account of power (13 liter engine with OD transmissions turning 3.55 or 3.42 rears; the new ones are running 3.36s). The new ones also completely do away with canister filters (older ones used a canister for the secondary fuel filter, and either PACCARs suspended fuel/water separator for the primary, or a Davco).
I snagged the instructional DVD called "Driving the PACCAR MX13" out of one of our brand new trucks, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
Cummins Insite is a much more comprehensive and user-friendly program than PACCAR's Davie is, for certain.
Never really had much of a chance to drive either the MX13 or the EPA-2010 ISX engines (in fact, I've only driven one ISX, and that was a pre-2007 model), so I can't really say too much there.

You have way more options for repairs (dealers, engine shops) with a Cummins then a Paccar dealer (Pete or KW)

I have driven MX-13 485/1650 with 18speed and 4.11 rears in 389 Pete up in northern AB hauling oil for a few months, before I bought my new truck. That thing is beyond weak, pure junk. On every up shift made me wanna jump out of the truck and give it a push. Feels like a 100hp motor. And that engine brake, have to hit it a mile away before it'll start slowing down.

It would be weak with 4.11's ECM cuts back power over 1450 and the torque is down low so engine is out of both power bands so ECM cuts the boost back which in turn cuts power . Jakes were weak on mine too until the valve set was done at 60000 km also jakes cut the boost back above 1600 rpm 14 to 1600 it will pull 30 psi on jakes least on the 2015 models
