I am about to get dental implants and have the bottom row of teeth extracted on Thursday and was wondering if I took pain medication they will perscribe that day is allowed. I dont intend to take it more than a day or so and I also wouldn't t be driving for at least 3 days after this surgery. Any help is appreciated!!

I had to have 3 of my teeth removed and 2 sergically after i snapped myself in the face with a bungie and they gave me opioids. Long as you arent driving with them its fine. Just keep the bottle with prescription on it with you. If you get popped for a random show them the prescription so they can note it when you test positive and you dont get in trouble.

I had serious pain meds for weeks, a number of times over last 30 years. Many surgeries. Dr. Allowed I could drive car, but not truck. But he was old school.
I should not drive even car. Meds do little to me. Surgery I wake up before leaving operating room. Except once. I told Anastasia I have woke up before during. Don’t get excited. Well I did, he did. They had to intubate, me assist my breathing because he pushed way too much. I woke up on CPAP type thing. With a nurse ordered not to leave my side for any reason until I was awake, alert. Opps

You likely take them for 3 or 4 days then if you can get by on Tylenol for swelling or inflammation but whatever you do hang onto the prescription as they are narcotic. If you have to take them when driving 5mg oxycodone every 8 hours would likely be sufficient,,anymore in most case would make you drowsy and unfit to drive. Everyone is affected differently, you’ll learn the first day…good luck with the surgery…

I think only day one would be the painful day .I jist want to make sure it's not some sort of violation if they are in my system if I had to take a test. Since they will be prescribed . Thanks for the reply!

I wouldn't risk it, but that is just me.
I would take aspirin or something OTC .

Isolate alone with some smoothies if pain is going to be so bad.

Urine test wise most tested compounds only stay active for 48 hours or so, except weed hits the fat cells for 30 to 60 days.

A day or so, post op, with 3 - 4 days off and you should not show but always hang on to any prescription for any medication just in case you do get a phone call form the MRO.
