With the possibility of "slip-seating" and fleet keys it almost seems a little risky to invest in personal luxuries for the truck if it may be swept out from under you. What would a driver's course of action be IF the truck with your tv, fridge, and tools went out with another driver? Hopefully it wouldn't be a "sux to be me" condition!!??

Wow. The responses on this thread make me love Mercertown even more. Brand new work out room. Hot clean showers, several tv rooms. Pool table. wifi if you need it. And Someone is always putting something on the grill. we got company autos to use just by signing out and sticking a couple bucks of gas in it. Just a few blocks from downtown for good restaurants or night clubs if that's your thing. That Mexican joint has the best #### margaritas this side of cancun. But avoid the hard rock, 17 bucks a drink there. Oh and if it's a business day your coordinator takes you out to lunch. So ya, I love going to the terminal.

Sometimes if you're hanging around the terminal and your truck is good to go, dispatch will take notice and possibly pull you from your sweet 2000 mi run and have you get under a funky 400 mi run. This will not happen if you're down the road at the T/A. I remember sitting in with dispatch at one company I worked at while truck was in the shop. They would almost always switch things around with drivers coming or already in the yard. And I remember sleeping in my truck at FFE yard and Mechanic comes along at 1 AM and tells me he needs to do an inspection on my truck. Loved sleeping in the driver's lounge that night.

Absolutely no reason why you can't continue sleeping in your truck while they are doing the inspection. If they don't like it, tough.

Edit: Unless of course, you are driving a coe. . .:biggrin_2552:

Never park overnight in a company yard. Safety wants to whine about not wearing a safety vest when your trying to go inside and pee. Dispatch wants to meet you face to face if they haven't already per company policy which is annoying. The rent a cop is whining if your over 5 mph etc... never go to a company yard unless necessary. Too much crappie for my liking.

I park mine at the company drop yard over in Jersey and find my own way home and back. I could bobtail home if I wanted but the tolls to get back and forth from Brooklyn are a little steep and the parking situation is a little dicey. I don't want to have to worry about that while I'm trying to relax for a couple days and they don't slip seat their sleeper tractors.

I do both. Have to on hometime as no place to park at home. Will do 10 hour if in area but don't go out of my way. A lot more quiet.

This is why I'm glad I live in a farming community. So many places to park when home. I will avoid my terminals as much as possible. But if I'm in the area when I need a 10 hr, I'll stop by, get a hot shower and a good meal.
