Do you defend the nose-in drivers ?

  1. I pull nose-in myself

  2. No, they're idiots

  3. I dont care it doesn't affect me

If a truck is coming at you from the side, it's a lot easier to see it when you are nosing out instead of backing out.

Things I've learned from this thread....

According to the OP's opinion a lot of you are a lazy sack of **** . ;).

The sun travels east to west an there are many angles for windows in a house to heat or help provide natural light.

Local drivers don't do a lot of backing at lest @snowwy doesn't.

This thread is truly popcorn worthy.

Only thing that could make it better would be a question about drug testing.

Edit : I vote...park how you wanna park. Just use commonsense...I know, I ask much. :)

I will let the 28% that think they are idiots to make the decision in this very real scenerio:
It is dark. The truck stop is nearly full, with drivers beginning to "invent" parking spaces making backing difficult.
Entry level driver(less that 5 years experience, English as 2nd language, unfamiliar with equipment being driven, any or all of the above) can attempt to back in next TO YOU, with a very high probability of a collision and severe damage to your truck.
OR. He can nose in which is much easier to see and prevent the hit, take his 10 hour break, at which time when he backs out:
    1. It will be light outside.
    2. Many spaces, including yours will be empty because you left at the end of your 10.
    3. The truck stop will generally have less traffic and when he backs out in daylight can be easily seen. Plus everyone is bright eyed and bushy tailed after their morning coffee.
    Your call.

The majority of truck jobs aren't van's backing in to docks.

We have our backings. Just not as many or as complicated. What backing we do. Is wide open space. No angles or blindsides.

    Can we back. Sure.
Can we do the tight squeezes and angles and what not. Not without some effort.

I've been driving almost 20 years. And just haven't had the need to do the backings some of you all do.

Most of us locals haven't had to worry about it.

And the 7 years I did otr. Was flatbed. They don't back into docks much either.

    Felt I should clarify.
