An argument could be made that the company failed to train the driver to properly use the equipment though.

True that. Specialized carriers don’t usually train. Remember that “Thrown to the Wolves” thread?
Most guys get their start at the stick and brick haulers, then move to specialized, then OSOW. No training, just another driver showing you his trailer.

I wish I could park my truck in front of my house but the town I live in has signs on just about every street that trucks over 24,000lbs not permitted. Of course! Just my luck! My wife and I will be moving to a place where I can park my truck and trailer in our driveway. Until then, I’ll still be looking for a place that isn’t too far away.

At my company, we don’t take our trucks home because the shop goes through every single thing on the truck each time we go out and bring it back. Which I prefer. The maintenance is impeccable where I work even a lightbulb inside the bunk is out they’ll replace it. . The truck is entirely gone through after each trip out and back. That wouldn’t happen if I was taking it home every week.

as far as parking if you scour the area and put some effort into it, you should be able to find something close by. Use Google maps and Google Earth and search around warehouses in industrial areas. You’ll find something

Home Owners Associations generally prohibit commercial vehicle parking either on the property or only if the vehicle is out of site so just because you have space for a truck doesn't mean you CAN park the truck when you want. If you are not out in the country where there is nobody to enforce rules, then maybe. LOTS of new drivers have been surprised to learn they cannot park trucks where they thought they could, because they have room for it. Do not assume and be surprised. Giving us a speech about liberty etc will not change the rules if they exist.

Very true! I live in town, no HOA. They just repaved our street about a year ago and I understand why they don’t allow heavy vehicles on this street. I’m looking for a place to park it close to the town I live in.

I would Never live any place that had an HOA. I’m not being told what I can do on my property. Until others pay my bills and taxes they can keep their nose in their own business. The area where I’m originally from don’t take too kindly to people telling us what to do on our own property and we never own any property even close to any HOA. People in Mid-Mississippi and Louisiana are a different breed.

No HOA where I live but the city has truck restrictions on all the residential areas. Anything larger than a 1 ton is not allowed.

    Cherokee65 and Numb Thank this.

All that’s doing is just pissing the tow truck operator off for an extra 30 seconds

I park at a gravel pit near where I grew up owned by some family friends, flip them a couple bucks a month, I live a ways a way now but when I take the truck home I park in the mulch yard where the gf works, but usually I get suckered into grabbing a walking floor and hauling chips when I do that though
