Paying off debt success stories from drivers living in the truck.

One of my main motivations and incentives for considering truck driving is the having the option to live in the truck while OTR, paying off debts, and saving. I understand it would be a few years til you are considered experienced and then able to make the big bucks. But removing living expense like rent is a big step in being able to save and pay off debt. I have student loans and credit card debt, and if I can earn the average salary, then I'd say I can pay off the debt I have within 3 years.

I have many disappointments when it comes to schooling. Since 2020, I've managed to keep working remotely, and now I have a job I really enjoy as a third shift dispatcher. I don't mind nights, in fact I really like my schedule, and when PTO runs out, I can take up to 12 weeks of personal leave. Thing is, my job situation I have now would be ideal if I didn't't have all this debt that's having me pay large monthly payments, and I have almost no spending money by the end of the pay period. If I didn't have this debt, I'd stay put at this job and look into buying a small home here in the Midwest, learn to homestead, take it animals, and take a personal leave every year to travel. But this debt is in the way of getting approved for a loan, and wages are pretty stagnant. I work as a dispatcher and have a degree and some certs in IT, but wages have stopped at $20. I got a 2.5 % raise, and my rent increased by 8%. The only option I see for myself is trucking. But my fear is, after I get myself in the financial spot I want to be in while in trucking, well then I am stuck in trucking and theres no going back to this job I have now. I haven't heard of any trucks transitioning to other fields. And I love working from home, but remote jobs have become hard to get, so I dont I can just slide back into my position I have now.

Sorry, this has turned into a rant. If you can reply to any positives that trucking has made to your financial situation, i'd appreciate it.

If getting back to working remotely after accomplishing my goals in trucking a long shot, then I suppose the next best thing would be to find a local job close to home with the hours I want and plenty of personal leave time available. Are the Dakotas a promising region for driving jobs? I live near Sioux Falls and I see lots of semis delivering fuel and food to the Hyvee stores and AutoZone stores, so they must be dedicated.
