Exactly. I live in Western. Crawford county and they tried to open a industrial park. Well let's say it is all set up with a wide blacktop driveway and all. Except they have no one in it after at least 5 years. It is only a mile or so off I-79 exit 141. Pa is a big joke when it comes to getting industry in. Ohio and other states kick Pa' s butt when it comes to that.

It's not a matter of going to PA. You just have to receive a 1099 from a company based in PA. Doesn't matter where you do the work.

That's the way I read it and appears to be what's happening to the OP. Take load from a PA based broker, from say TX to CA, and PA wants 3% withheld up front.

PA is only doing this to sole proprietors on 1099. It appears they're banking on individuals not having the resources to challenge it.

Everybody I do business with is based in the Midwest so no worries there. If I get any calls from Pennsylvania based brokers I'll be sure to laugh at them before I hang up.

And company drivers here get to pay an unemployment tax to the state....never seen an employee pay a share of the unemployment tax before. And then Scranton has a city tax you can pay if you work out of Scranton. I live just outside Scranton, so I dont have to pay that.

Pennsylvania has plenty of negatives but they're still much better than Maryland.

Maryland on up north is an armpit.

Whole northeast is rabid with nutty socialism, redistribution Dems and RINOs.

I wonder how many people even know about this insane new tax....

Or how many people actually care about it. I can't wait until they start taxing TVs and cars for driving. Maybe then they'll wake up and start doing something about it.

Apparently PA didn't learn anything from NY after it taxed most of its industry out .
