In 2016 the standard deduction was 6300. Add that to your figure of 13600 and you get 19900. Standard deduction is now 14600 so the change in taxable income all things being the same is 5300. 22% of 5300 is 1166.

 

Take into consideration the time required to track all that for a year and the time/cost of a more involved tax return, and I would say it is a push for otr drivers and a tax savings for most other occupations.

My vote is politics parts be locked behind the poltics thread or deleted and retain the useful tax info and the OP and myself be sternly reminded of forum policies and decorum.
