Per Diem paid by company less than daily rate. Itemize difference?

I believe there is also a maximum total figure you can claim in per diem
... Now turbo tax may calculate this it's self never used tax software

We took a flat deduction times however many service days away from home provable by logbooks. In 2001 that worked out to 13700 to apply against taxes, if any on a income of 65K that year. By the time Uncle Sam saw it all go through, we had a nice little sum returned to us. That pretty much paid the food costs of being on the road as intended.

We do not allow companies to take perdiem on us. If that means rejecting a few cents per mile so be it. It's simply too valuable to pass up.
