Got a 2004 peterbilt 379 exh, the hood was replaced prior to me buying it.. was just starting to notice that it has a considerable slope compared to slopes on other 379( i know they all have a slope ). Was looking at the front 4 bolts that have washers on them and notice that the front bolts have 4 washers and rubber bushings, while the rear ones only have one.. picture is attached, let me know if this not adjusted properly, and how to make it right.

I noticed my 389 had a larger gap than usual so I started digging around for the reason. I found that the hood rest bumper on one side wasn’t fitting properly and eventually fell off. I replaced them and have had no issues since. The gap between the hood and panel over the firewall was large enough for rain to get down in the engine compartment. Now it is a normal gap. I found the parts on Amazon drastically less than at the Pete dealership for the same plastic part.
Oxbow, blairandgretchen and Feedman Thank this. -
Before and after photos and the gap should affect your hood slope.
Oxbow, Sons Hero, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
I noticed 2015 car carrier ( I believe I am right with year ) my neighbor has no slope compared to 2000 car carrier , both trucks short hoods , but I measured lengthwise and his hood probably 4 inches longer .
I also noticed that some newer petes with extended hoods has slight slope , some not ...just like @nerv mentioned
maybe some Pete guys can clear this -

Thats what I starting thinking that it was a conversion, but everything else says its a 379 exhd hood, it would have many differences other then just a slope.. im still thinking it isnt adjusted properly.. just dont want to start messing around without confirming

This a factory 379 short hood that I drove a while ago. There was no gap between the fender and the cab down at the bottom

I've seen some other Petes with the same angle. Looks good to me.
Mine is flat. Water puddles on it. -
