Phone app to track IFTA miles?

One of the guys I work with got an IFTA audit, and a $5,500 fine, for using GPS miles for IFTA reporting.
He was told that GPS, and ELD miles are not acceptable because it’s “too easy to cheat them. Only hub, or odometer miles.”

 

I’ve had a Garmin since 2013, it will not update and does exactly what yours does. I basically keep it just to keep track of my speed and intersections to my close deliveries “If” it’s on. Otherwise it’s useless. And I don’t want to drop big money on another one also. If anything, I’ll probably chase one down on eBay.

 

ELD miles are fine in a fuel tax audit if they match the ECM(hub)miles.

 

I got a ifta audit and NC said they’d take a read out of GPS miles. They weren’t thrilled I didn’t have trip sheets or what roads I drove though. They still fined me lol.

 

Copilot app is a one time fee of $100. Unless the price went up.

 

what state? That's BS. I just had an IFTA audit in Tennessee and he was happy to use GPS or ELD miles. I think there's more to the story with your guy.

I had some discrepancies and I wound up owing $56.

$30 of that was interest because his audit period was half of 2022.

He sent in pages of daily trip sheets, and fuel receipts, and it was flatly rejected because he couldn’t prove that there was no gap in the mileage between when the odometer miles quit (odometer quit working, but speedometer still worked, W900), and when the gps miles started.

 

I can’t think of the last time I filled out a trip sheet, 2010 maybe?

I do track miles by hand so I have a back up but I use the garmin, which also has a built in camera
