I am a photography teacher in Indiana taking my summer photographing the American Trucker. Many of my friends think I'm crazy, but I like trucks and have a lot of respect for the drivers out there and the life style they've chosen. My plan is to travel to areas of the country and talk to drivers, take photographs, and then blog about my experiences. I just returned from a two week trip out west where I drove over 3000 miles and had a great experience. I am planning on traveling to NC this weekend by way of I-75 and I-40 (from Indianapolis). I also plan on flying out to the Pacific Northwest for a trip in July. So far I've traveled by car, but would love to ride with a trucker if I could ever work it out. I get online while on the road by using motels or an online account I have at Flying J. My goal is to get the raw material necessary for an art show of my work, and possibly a book. I'm trying to keep my focus positive and preserve a certain amount of privacy for the people I talk to.
If you feel you'd be in a position to talk to me, let me photograph you, or could arrange for me to ride with you for a bit, contact me. I have a totally free schedule until August 1, 2009. Example, I'd love to ride into (and out of!) Hunts Point with a trucker.
If you have any really good ideas for me, I'm also interested.

Yeah, that is a really cool old Mack. Now I'm on a shorter trip to North Carolina at the moment. The heat is making it hard. I'm working on a trip out to the Pacific Northwest next.
