Thanks! This whole project has been very different from what I envisioned, but I'm enjoying it. I'm back in the midwest passing through Chicago, and on my way up into Wisconsin. I'll have some family with me so I expect I won't be able to get too much done. But I need a bit of a break.

I think anytime you set out to do something, it is not quite like you expect. For this project I overlooked how difficult it would be, physically and mentally. Trying to find interesting ways to photograph a moving truck on a limited access highway is hard. It's hard to find a safe spot to view and shoot from. There were many times I wish I could have stopped, but couldn't. The heat was hard to deal with at times. And, the whole journey cost me more money than I'd hoped. I was forced to find motels on more nights than I'd have liked. Originally I thought I might be able to sleep in my vehicle more often, but the heat, need for electricity to do computer work, and exhaustion drove me inside.
    Thanks for reading!

    Craig,

I am about midway through your June blog entries. I dont have much going on so maybe I will make a sandwich for lunch and do some reading. :)

I admire your perserverance. This is a noble project. Would even make a nice hardbound book. If it is tiring just profiling the individuals behind the wheel, I cant imagine what it must be like to drive one of those large cars day in and day out. I have often felt that truckers dont get the recognition or respect they deserve.

    Keep up the good work.

Yep! And to think that certain states... I won't mention names like California, New York, New Jersey, or any other ridiculous state wants us to suffer... They all have idling restrictions that say that we have to shut the truck off. In the summertime with no air conditioning, that truck turns into a furnace. In the winter with no heat, it turns into a freezer box... But yet they don't care. They force us to shut them down or give us high dollar tickets.

I enjoy the pictures your taking. They all look good & I actually "stole" one to make my desktop background. Google search Pilot Challenge, It's a magazine put out by the Pilot truck stop. If you are interested, they have a section called Kodak moments. It is a area where amateurs can submit their photos for a chance to be printed.

It's harder then what it looks like. And your right... We don't get the recognition that we deserve. We are treated like that stray cat that just got your precious tabby pregnant.

The oversize ones are epic. Wouldn't let me link the picture here.
