I worked for NMC most of my life before trucking .
Flat Rate Tech for many years . Good Money

    :Automobile loan:

Twice a year Nissan Factory training was given .
ASE Cert was a NMC training requirement to
advance to the level of Nissan Master Technician within
    their system.

The training and the 2 testing systems always went hand in
    hand back then

Personally , i hated driving all the way into Atlanta to take the ASE test
... plus they were outrageously expensive ... the ASE RE Certification
definitely smelled of a cash grab . It should have been free to take
the same test a second time

Not sure new trucks are better then old? More to go wrong, and less it seems the mechanics know how to fix. I worked a dedicated for Ryder and their in house service shops don't seem very up on much in technology. Sure they can do brakes and air leaks and services. But have a electrical or issue that involves tracing a problem down or intermittent and you will get blank stares.

The Internationals were nice and reliable when they were new, well, except the Maxxfarce powered ones, but in time, that shop's crappy mechanics and the policy of the purchasing department having to find the cheapest parts soon had them sitting either in the parking area waiting for parts, or on the side of the road waiting for road service (or a tow truck). Give them time, soon, the Peterbilts will be just as reliable as the Internationals.
