I have a Pete 379 with an n14 Cummins and I’ve been having a problem for the past weeks I get a popping sound and loose power some white with black smoke starts happening I have to get off gear then back to help it start working again And it also a only happens when I’m in high gears and I have taken it to some mechanics but they can’t find the problem what I have done lately I have changed the turbo I also changed the air cooler because it was damaged but it keeps on doing the same thing...... can anyone point me to a right direction

I had a similar problem with my ddec ii series 60. The injector heights were way out of spec after a terrible overhead job. Same symptoms you describe.

Kind of a popping sound out the stacks
    No power in top gear
White gray smoke in top gear
Couldn't barely pull an overpass with an empty wagon..

Sounds like it might be an injector dumping fuel.

The thing is that popping sound kind of comes on the passenger side like it’s hitting my cab
