Is it possible to get in at 16' 7" tall.
Talking about a load from Houston to the port, I told them I don't think you can get there.
Any good escort / pole cars that know the NW?

Should be someone along here shortly to help with the pilot car service.
You'll definitely need one, there's several low overpasses up I-5, especially in the Tacoma area near JBLM (military bases).

Port itself would be the easy part- nothing to hit, getting there not so much. I didn't do much escort/pole stuff myself & what I did recently they used their own rigs. There is/was a guy out of Buckley that did a lot of work around the area; Snow-something (Snowrunner Pilot Car? Something like that). I'll ask around tomorrow. @catalinaflyer if he's still around might know.

    New rule in WA FYI-
"On June 3, 2017, a rear pilot/escort vehicle is necessary if you are exceeding twelve feet wide, have a height that requires a front pilot equipped with a height pole, and you are traveling on a multilane highway."
[edit- might not be relevant as it's a superload @ 16'7", but good info for anyone coming up here]

not4hire, Ruthless, cnsper and 3 others Thank this.
  6. The pilot vehicles have to be a certain. Size. A Prius is not a pilot car. So. Pilots have to be an average size min.

Guess someone had an issue seeing a Prius blown over with a height pole.(it's a joke it didn't happen at least I don't think so)

I understand the rules, been at this a few weeks, Not where I usually run, don't know about getting across Washington and down into the port that tall. Been to Boeing 15'6" tall with no problem, the extra 13 inches changes everything.

  8. My post wasn't a dig at you.

Since some have abused the pilot cars, using anything with a steering wheel as well as any person who drinks Starbucks.

You will do ok the guys on here will shoot ya right info.

I have fired more pilots cars than I can count, more pickey about pole cars, only use one of three that I trust on hard loads.

You don't want to go up I-5at that height. Going across I-90 will be much better. I know at 15'3" I had to ramp almost 10 times going up I-5. Going across I-90 there are zero obstacles. In fact there is a bridge on i-5 over a river that is only about 15'6". No real direct way around that bridge.
