Here’s what happened. Went down a two lane highway. We saw the scale sign and the arrow, pointing to a gravel pull off with no one there. So we kept driving, as soon as we passed through intersection we look and see the portable down a residential street. Not Main Street, I mean just houses, like a street you live on. We didn’t stop. We get to next town and get pulled over dragged back to nearest scale and ticketed for “bypassing” portable.
Can they legally set up on a residential street?

More info: the scale sign was at least 500 to 600 feet in front of the street it was on.
Nearly two blocks down residential street.
It’s only a 69 dollar ticket, but I swear they make some of these “rules” up as they go.6wheeler Thanks this. -
I would fight that.
Grubby, Woodys, tinytim and 1 other person Thank this. -
Ok, so it's not a big enough ticket to waste your time on, guess that is what they figure.
They think that it is small enough that you will just pay.TigerShark Thanks this. -
I'm more than a little curious where exactly this was and what time/day.

What. Did they close the weight station west of Lamar? -
After passing it we went directly to 385 in town and that is where we got stopped.
The local officer who stopped us stated we skipped the scale. I explained why. He said well where you planning on going back and scaling? I said if that is what will end this BS.
So not only did we get escorted through town.
We got to scale at the northbound port get our ticket and then turn around and scale again on the southbound port.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
