The urine THC test doesn't actually test for THC. It tests for the metabolites of THC, which means that the drug that makes you high has already been processed by you liver and is no longer making you high.
So, getting canned for testing positive for THC does not necessarily mean you were being unsafe behind the wheel. It just means that you used a substance that was made illegal under very politically motivated circumstances, a very long time ago.

After reading alot of the posts concerning drug testing it has become very apparent that not only do drivers not understand the rules but companies do not either. A positive drug, or alcoholtest cannot be put in your DAC report unless you sign a release of information specifically to Hireright/ USIS. Drug/alcohol test results are private and confidential.

I will say it again. A company cannot share drug/alcohol test results without a signed stement from the employee specifically to the company requesting that info. A "blanket" signed statement is not legal. This cannot be signed in advance and cannot be put on a DAC report for public knowledge without the drivers knowledge. The driver MUST be made aware immediately when confidential information is released.

...and just because your number comes up for a random test today doesn't mean it won't pop up again next week or next month. There is no limit to how often a company can "random" test you...which is part of the whole randomness of the test. Every month, they need to test a certain percentage of their drivers...some can go years without being tested, and then get tested several months in a row. Random.
...and if you show up looking like you're under the influence, or the boss hears rumors of a wild party with rampant drug use that you attended, you can also be tested "for cause".

There has been a little confusion regarding what I
said regarding the DAC report. Hireright is considered a is a third party service agent that many companies use to retain record on drivers , including drug test records. Thee only way Hireright can disclose drug testing records to anybody is with a specific signed release from the employee. If a company is a member of Hireright they do not have open access to your drug testing records. When you apply to a driving job, a perspective employer must access at least 3 years of drug testing records from your previous employer(s). This is to keep drivers from job hopping to hide their past. Your drug testing records are not public. -
