There is a sweeping curve where you merge on to the highway that I took almost daily when I was driving for a sod farm. You would have to take the curve, allow the door to swing open, then kick the steering wheel to the right to slam it shut again. It almost became a habit.

And you have been around cabovers for sure, Carl, since you know that those old doors will open all the way, to where they are flush with the cab (except sticking out forward).

Remember those days of slamming the door shut 2 or 3 times till it actually latched?

If you have a few pics, post 'em up, we'd love to see them! So yours is the first year of the square headlights?

This is a 1986, and I understand the split windshield is cheaper when it comes time to fix things, but as a kid, I always thougth the Peterbilts with the single windshield and 3 wipers were so cool!

    HA!
This is not aimed at you, CKE, but that made me think of a recurring joke on the Andy Griffith Show.

When Opie would say the wrong thing, usually in front of guests or the church pastor, Andy would look at him and say,
"And to think... I was glad when you learned to talk."

Left Tuesday with a couple grain bins headed to the area near Crossfield, AB. Took a "trainee" with me in his own truck and own load. We are trying a new thing with taking new drivers out on the highway to give them some guided experience in long haul.

Once we delivered Wednesday around lunch time, we blasted over to Spray Lake Sawmills in Cochrane, AB for a reload. Made it with 20 minutes to spare:

Big Beth pulled 92,000 gross up that 3km long 7% grade in 5th direct. I was more than pleased. Got around 5 mpg for the whole trip, ran over 89,000 gross the whole time (except the hour from Crossfield to Cochrane). First time I took her up a proper mountain grade.

Drove through the (very depressing) rain all day yesterday to Moosomin, SK. Then last stop in Brandon, MB before back to the yard:

Was a good trip. Reminded me why I gave up the long haul gig for the local/regional stuff. Much respect for all the drivers who do this on a daily basis all year long.

I wondered if you were in an office job now, I seem to recall you mentioning an offer for it or some such.

I was all up in your area Thursday, loaded at CertainTeed right there in Winnipeg at 2PM and stayed the night at the Petro Pass on the east side. Came into town from Balgonie, SK (Regina) that morning. Was coming back from Calgary, AB.

Leaving Hearst, ON now and headed east but I was sure you said you were moving into an office job... I thought about yelling at ya on here!

Yeah, office job is a thing, you weren't wrong, it just isn't "right now". The higher ups are in the process of building the position (it's entirely new) and right now, we are somewhat hurting for drivers, so I still get to do what I do best, lol.

I'm not complaining, and won't until the snow starts falling again. Haha.

And too bad I missed you, could have been really cool to meet up and shoot the... talk shop for a little while. Let me know when you are heading into town again in the future.
