Our cotrell’s can’t haul 7. 6 would be most.

 

You can’t beat the Lohr back bottom deck laying flat and having pockets for big loads like this. That back top unit on a Cottrell would be 15’

 

Being the first G20, I don't have the new #9. I could have opened the truck package and got a few more inches, but it was already lower than number two and four.

That ranger in the belly was the biggest PITA. Ladder rack on top of the topper, it only cleared by an inch or two. It's at least a foot taller than the cab and right at the rear edge of the topper. I wanted to put it over the tandem, but I was unable to back it on, just wouldn't clear that direction.

Dumb question time for everyone. When pinning everything and getting ready to roll, how close will you pin the rack to a vehicle? Just wondering what’s a safe bet if I have to get closer than 4 fingers or so. They like to have us keep a fist worth of space in between.

 

I don’t like to get any closer than a fist, that gives you some room for error. There will come a time in your career when you pin the drivers side one hole higher than your control side and a fist will be enough to keep you from setting the deck on a roof.

 

I always did no less than a fist.

 

I like a fist of room. Just curious if you guys did it closer.

 

I won’t say I never have gotten too close or not torn anything up, but I have got lucky several times. I would rather run tall than close. Generally with the product you haul currently and I hauled for many years if you look at your load on paper for a few minutes you can figure out how not to run tall or close. It sometimes takes a reload or two, but well worth the effort.
