In my first career starting at 19 years old I drove fire trucks and put out fires for a living. It’s been over 20 years since I operated a pump panel or aerial ladder but I could probably figure it out with my readers on. This old thing looks like a dinosaur now and it was old when I drove it, but the last 10 years of my FD career I piloted it for 24 hour shifts.

 

You driving them or hauling them with one of them fancy bus trailers?

 

Driving them from a regional service center to the depts. I may eventually fly to the factory and drive them to the service center, but for now it’s all close by work.

 

There is money in hauling them. They generally require a stretch or better yet a bus trailer

 

I won’t say I will never own another rig because anything can happen. Currently I have no plans to get back into trucking as I am gradually embracing this retirement lifestyle.

 

Well that was a first! Sitting in the truck munching, watch a hitchhiker walk past the driver side, go around the back and walk right up against the right side and then step into the gap. He thought he was just going to climb right into the bed of the pickup I had backed in the belly. He'd already dropped half his stuff in before I got back there to chase him off.
