Make that money driver!

 

I've been busy rectifying Harley Davidson's idiotic decision to put a non-serviceable filter within the fuel pump housing on my Pan Am. You can see how ####ty the filter looks down in the hole in that first pic.

 

Hansen was a very good carrier to work with while I was leased there for 10+ years. I haven’t heard much good about Proficient but maybe they will be better than rumors.

 

Never heard a good word about Proficient either. Basically a starter company is what I always thought.

 

I have a friend that worked for Sierra Mountain as a company driver and they switched them all over to Proficient beginning of last year. I will say that their regional manager takes care of business in a way that nobody at Sierra Mountain ever did, and the inmates are no longer running the asylum at that particular yard.

 

That could be a good thing or a bad thing in my opinion. Some people “myself included” were accustomed to running certain lanes and customers and we seldom liked to get out of our routine. I realize that the bad stops and customers need their cars delivered, but they didn’t get to ride on my rig. Unfortunately I wasn’t the only one who felt like this. I guess I got out just in time. lol

 

This was way more ridiculous. These guys would basically build their own loads to max out revenue and leave older but lower paying vins sit. And then of course wanted no part of it when the ####loads that resulted from their cherry picking had to be hauled to the same dealer. There's multiple other examples, but basically it was a non-confrontational dispatcher combined with absolutely no oversight from The regionals.

 

I didn’t mind stepping up to the plate and taking one for the team occasionally. I did remind them that my rig needed to make a profit on every single load. If a load was a money loser then it needed to go on a company rig as they could absorb the loss easier than a one truck operation.
When Jack Cooper went out of business we picked up a Ford rail head that paid Cooper excellent money. When all the hands got done touching it after we got it the pay sucked compared to what it paid Cooper. I had to go past that yard every 6 months to have my rig DOT inspected at a company shop. I deadheaded past it every single time because I was not participating in whatever it was that was going on. The loads went right back to my house but a cheap load was not going for a ride with me when I knew Ford was still paying well to move their freight.
