Well since my bread and butter got stolen it really forced me to go out and find new work.

Found a side winter gig, moving gas, power only.

It’s a little bit lower rate but they provide a free fuel card!

If your employer doesn’t allow it, your out of luck.
And here’s a kicker: some customers don’t allow 3rd parties to use it either.
This isn’t the good old days anymore.
I worked for one of the biggest independent fuel suppliers in Texas, and if you were on the fracking crew, there were a couple of the big majors that would not allow any 3rd party employees to on their well sites if you went over 12hrs on duty.

If you dont mind what were you hauling ?
I had a nitrogen tank on my step deck and was told no exemption.
The person in the cabin and pack off truck were able to claim exemption because the unit was mounted to the truck. The were also the trained operators of the equipment.
The people hauling sand boxes were also told no exemption.

Quite a few people got burned on this.
Had a safety man from Shell question how I made the trip to location with out 10 hours off.
Snitched me off to my safety dept.

I worked in wireline. The trucks were designed specific for wellsite work, and could do no other job. I could see not getting an exemption because of something strapped to a step deck, because you could take it off and haul shingles, for example. But if you have a sand box trailer, or something like that, then you should be able to get it.

You are correct because of the specialized equipment.
In our case we use our trailer with their removable equipment .

I love when boss men say they can’t hire employees but it’s okay to hire an owner op.
