I have a 2017 Peterbuilt 579. I’ve discovered my two ac outlets on the lower part of the dash isn’t working. I’ve checked the PowerPoint and Cigar LT fuses and they’re both good. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this?
Same problem with mine a few months back. Pete uses the cheap plastic crap and a poor quality wire in the outlet itself. If it gets too warm it can melt that connection and pop goes the outlet. Only solution is replacment at that point. Pete sells them for ~$5 a pop though if your good with wireing i HIGHLY suggest you replace them with ceramic ones. Otherwise just grab a few extra.
Also when you pull them dont discard or destroy the little plastic ring that holds them in. Pete only sells replacments with the whole pannel which is $800. Also make sure to pull the fuses and ensure the lines are DEAD before you plug the replacments in.
To get to the pannel open to replace the sockets. Open both cupholders and gently but firmly pull the pannel out via the lip above the cup holders. The whole pannel should just pop out. Then when you finish just line up the holes and pop it back in.
