Okay, If an International was missing the rear drive shaft, is that something you would notice during a pre-trip inspection?

Now that being said, not all tractors have a rear driveshaft, but he still should have seen the gaping hole in the diff where the driveshaft goes.

This driver said he did a full PTI per the FMCSA (even though their policy is that the driver never gets under the truck). Then, the unit started having some issues but he just kept driving until it wouldn't drive anymore. Now the company says they are not responsible for the repair bill because he did a full PTI. -
I'd get a third party (roadside service) to look at it and write up a report stating a PTI wasn't done correctly, or fully. You might need something like that for any possible court case as it sounds like this might end up being one.

Interesting that it was movable unless the power divider was locked in. With the intermediate shaft missing the power divider usually has to be locked to allow it to move. If you ever throw the shaft you will be dead in the water. Lock in the power divider and truck on to get it fixed instead of sitting. Probly blew the power divider at highway speed and thats why it broke down.
okiedokie and deathB4decaf Thank this.
