I was prescribed amantadine for short term use for fatigue. I don’t see it on DOT banned prescriptions but I do see it causes false positives.
My question is would taking prescription which like I said isn’t a lifelong prescription, possibly cause problems with my CDL especially if I had to take a wizz quiz?

    you take it for fatigue?

Amantadine (Oral Route) Side Effects - Mayo Clinic

"Amantadine may cause some people to be agitated, irritable, or display other abnormal behaviors. It may also cause some people to have suicidal thoughts and tendencies or to become more depressed. Also tell your doctor if you have sudden or strong feelings, such as feeling nervous, angry, restless, violent, or scared"

If you get a Wizz Quiz and it pops positive the lab MO will contact you to question if you are prescribed a medication that will cause a positive result. You let them know what legal prescriptions you take and they decide if that is cause for pass or failure.

I appreciate the response. I hate prescriptions and try to avoid them like the plague. I don’t see it on the list of disqualifying medications but my luck i probably missed it lol. Just glad it’s short term, like less than 4 weeks.

Good lord. All these side effects just to combat some fatigue? Poor driver will end up needing Paxil also, or another anti-depressant.

Definitely looks ugly but I was told the medication is usually well tolerated

Drug tests, I was told, only test for a certain number of things. If that drug is not on the "naughty" list, you should be fine,,,in THAT regard, however, naturally we're all more concerned about the fatigue part. Can't sleep during off time? It was huge problem for me, until I discovered those squishy ear plugs. They almost work too well. Diet? Certain foods make you sleepy, and by golly, if a cup of Joe didn't do it, a nap was in order. Please be careful with that, eh?
