The ATA has been running around for years saying paper loggers are getting 100 miles more per day than the ELD'ers as their selling point to the politicos.

No one said you have to be smart to be a VP of Operations...

Let's even presume he has an MBA (which means nothing these days) it shows how much these "senior execs" are clueless.

Me? I'm looking forward to only working 8 hours a day and blaming it on eLogs. Working 11-14 hours while the office staff goes home promptly at 4:40 is done for me. And it was worse at the mega I used to work for, where night shift seemed to take a perverse pleasure in messing up everything day shift set up and never answering the phone.

But you can't do that every day without hitting you 70, then you have to reset or have a couple low mile days, bringing you overall average daily miles down to around 500 miles.

I have watched the mega carriers try to break in to the niche markets I like to work as an O/O... They drive the rates down and then fail to deliver. The little guys do more than just move freight, we usually know the business as well as the shipper and or receiver does, we work together when things go awry. And trust me, things do go awry and all parties involved sometimes need to go that extra mile. The mega carriers do not operate like that, most of the drivers are inexperienced, attitudes, etc. They can try, I have watched them all do it over the years, and with always the same results, failure.

They need to stick to their toilet paper and soda pop, leave the real work to us little guys and independents that actually understand what the work entails.
