It was in the top 3 threads when I commented. If it wasn't up there I would not have done it or noticed it.

I drive slower that that usually right around 55. My truck will run 72 though but just because it will don't mean it is a smart business decision.

Also hauling cheap freight is not a wise business decision. Bigkid, whats the point of making that much money and not getting home to spend time with family or anything? I take it your a Prime driver?

I'll let BK answer that part on his own.

So milskired... exactly what is your idea of the per-mile rate we get on lease-op freight, and the amount of home time one of our lease-ops might be able to afford?

prime driver here, lease a 2012 Cascadia. I love how people talk about how easy it is to go to a dealership and buy a truck for cheaper than what I can get it through a lease purchase. well I have no credit, no way to get that credit, without this lease I wouldn't make my bills every month, so it seems as if I had no way save up the money to just buy a $125000 truck up front. when you can show me how easy it is to just go and do it I will show you someone that has no other worldly responsibilities and more money than they know what to do with. everybody has to start somewhere. if you don't like how the lease deal worka, don't do it but don't ##### about it either, just shut up and leave all the poor people like I was alone so we get our little crappy business started the best way we see fit. oh by the way I average about .48 a mile bring home and go home for 2 weeks straight every 7 weeks. (along with a few days here and there for important stuff like my sons birthday and 3 weeks over the Christmas holidays) all the while paying 1350 a week in total fixed expenses plus all my fuel and other stuff. have fun with that. im comfortable now.

I see you have been truckin' for a whole year. Come back after running another year or so and let us know how leasing is working out for you then.

you said yourself about a week about 3 steps forward and 2 1/2 steps back. that's all a lease is. for people that had very little to begin with and were on the verge of losing everything they had, that's a big deal. I might have started this lease ankle deep in crap but at least when im done with it I will be on solid ground, that's all that matters. the fact that I have managed to save up $5000 in the bank after a year of running solo in a leased out truck with no other prior experience in the trucking industry, shows that its worth it. so what if the big guy rob low is making a 200% profit off this truck. is he supposed to take a loss? I wouldn't. and I have by no means had it easy. I started with nothing, no money, no food for my wife and son at home, no credit, NOTHING. now I go to bed every night happy because I can provide for my family and more. a year from now that feeling will be no different and by the time my lease is up I will have enough money in the bank and enough credit built up to be able to buy if I want, or skip the hassle of actually owning my own truck and lease another and come out that much better in 3 years. totally worth it to me, and to anybody else that was in my situation.

I'm personally not a fan of leasing but j&j if your doing good and actually making money thats good on you! My problem is there is a lot of people who lease who have no clue. Also you obviously have your reasons that you leased a truck. Your obviously building credit and getting ahead. You could be one of the good stories of leasing.

ironpony and Hittman 306 Thank this.
