Without an APU is it possible to game on either of these machines? I noticed a few gamers here, what exactly is your set up? It would be nice to be able to use gaming consoles to kill some time. AreAPU's or inverters a must? Does PAM Transport or any other company not allow inverters? Thanks in advance.
Some companies wont allow large hardwired inverters, some will allow the large ones with permission. Honestly when i first started i bought one of the cobra inverters (700 watt i think) and they plug into 12v. (I haven't heard of a company that won't let you use the ones that plug into cig lighter/12v plug) My setup (no apu)-Xbone, 32" led, 2500w hardwired inverter... also have laptop ect... batteries are ok for roughly 5 hours (without truck running)... summer time using opti idle no worries since truck runs pretty constantly
1500 watt inverter. Hook one end to each of the end batteries and check the buss fuse (doesn't have to be good but you'd rather have it good) You can run it for around 2 hrs then start the truck up every hour for a couple minutes. Bought a ps3 when conways detention was 3 hrs before they started charging. Good for those rainy days or if you are forced to park in Gary idiana or the like. Very easy to install like changing a wiper blade.
They use between 150-200 watts depending on the model. Add that with a TV about 2-3 hours sounds right. Which one is better between the PS4 and Xbox? I've been thinking about getting one. Last one I owned was a PS2.
Thanks for replies. I understand it can be easy but is it also safe just plugging it, don't I need to solder anything?
The only one you can plug in a lighter is the 400 watt inverter. I can't tell you about a gaming console but when I first started it would handle a TV and DVD player. They do make a 800 watt inverter with alligator clips you clip on the battery. That would more than handle it. Just a little extra work setting things up each time.

My setup. The company I work for has apu's in all their trucks with an optional 1500w inverter. Runs my ps4 with 32" flat-screen flawlessly. One word of caution, at least with the way mine is wired, when I start my truck, the inverter shuts down for a second, thus shutting off your system. This will cause the ps4 to boot in safe mode and do a system check. Also has a chance of corrupting saved game data. As far as ps4 vs xbox 1..I went with ps4 after reading numerous reviews. The hardware is apparently better for future technology. The main issue with both of these systems currently is the lack of actual games on the market. Plus the ps4 is 100 bucks cheaper.
