Does the post office use the pup trailers out there to refill the stations from the central sorting warehouse. I know Cleveland has some pup trailers older one parked out at there main post office down town, but I've never actually seen them every being used.

The pup trailers are used mainly for P&D work. They're basically no different than say using the straight trucks to pickup Mail at the smaller Postal Stations or business freight pickup. I use a 40 or 45 foot MVS trailer when I do my P&D run. We got smaller trailers that go down to about 26' I believe, and those are hardly ever used. Maybe for storage. But yeah, we have a lot of pup trailers, but they're never really used or setup as doubles though.

And by the way, where the hell is the driver at? Leaving a vehicle unattended? In NYC????? :biggrin_2556:

I know we get away with a lot of ####, being Federal and what not, but come on...parking in the middle of the street? With the windows down and unattended?

You hear stories about people having they're packages stolen from their steps. Imagine stealing a whole truckload of Parcels. SMH :biggrin_25513:

Edit...Oops!...after taking a closer look at the picture, there does seem to be a faint shadow of a figure behind the wheel. My bad :D

Have you guys ever had loads ripped off?
I would have to imagine ripping off a post office load and stealing a post office semi truck would get you in a big mess of trouble.

It would get you in trouble. That's a Federal Crime since it's government property. I haven't personally heard of anyone trying to steal a Truckload of Mail or Parcels, but I have heard about Letter Carriers being robbed, followed, or having their delivery Van's stolen. EVERYBODY orders online nowadays, and with Package Delivery on the rise, due to e-commerce, it's an easy way for thieves to steal merchandise.
