I'm considering purchasing a truck from Penske. If you've purchased with Penske what was your experience like? I work with a company that has been in business for 15 years. I only just came into my current position where I have the authority to purchase. Small company, 4 trucks. Looking to expand and grow in the future, so might go back to Penske if we do make a purchase with them and it works out.

    Specifically I'm curious about

-- Did you feel like you made the right move after purchasing with Penske?
    -- Warranties
    -- Financing
    -- Customer Service

Some of these questions they could answer but its Sunday and I'm trying to get ahead of the ball. Obviouly prefer a truckers unbiased opinion as well. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Never bought one, but have inspected a few.
First thing to do on a truck you’re interested in is study the repair history. Look for recurring complaints or faults. If it has an accident listed look at the pics attached.
If you aren’t comfortable doing an inspection on a truck, hire someone. You will not be able to do a test drive.
I think they give you 30 days to find any drivability issues.
If you do buy a truck from them make sure you get the ecm password.

Worked for some leasing companies. Have picked out trucks for several different clients but it has been a while. Rental - leasing company trucks are usually
a common fleet spec truck but not always.
Rental truck: That is the truck that has had a thousand drivers beating jamming and framing it.
Lease truck: Company bought it for a long term lease customer. It could have had only one driver its entire life. You can usually see and smell the difference.
Truck kept after lease and rented out maybe only had 50 drivers.
Condition of the trucks often depend on the individual shop and the company that ran the trucks. All the shops do not follow the company guide lines and some companies do not give a ####.
Things have changed over the years. Used to be able to schedule and go to the shop the truck was running out of or ran out of. Check it out while it was in for a PM. Talk to someone that knew the truck and look at the file. Drive it. They were prepped for sale at the shop they ran out of.
The last Penske truck I picked was in Villa Rica Ga. It was at a for sale prep shop. They knew no history. " There are 50 ( or more and different color tandem day cabs ) of them pick one out." They let me drive it around there. Put it in the shop and inspect it. Had a list of defects. The man went through and said we will not do A B C X Y Z. If you buy it we will do everything else. They did and we were able to pick it up about 2 weeks later. That was about 10 years ago and that truck is still here running today. It's been a good truck.
Last Ryder truck came from Charlotte. It was on a sales lot with trucks slid in with shoe horns. No one knew anything about the trucks. They were salesmen.
Cummins m series single axle. It had been there way to long and they made a deal. Wish I could have bought its sister. Sold it to a local company that is still running it. Good little IHC.
Then there was the one that did not do anything but break down after a year.
You are buying a used truck and they all have risk. Have it inspected! See if you can read the name on the door and Google it. What did it do? Probably do not want a lease truck that spotted trailers at the Port if there is such a thing.

Right move? Made the wrong choice on one. Who's fault is that?
Had no issues while in the warranty period. 30 days?
    Financing? Paid cash
Customer Service? Guys in the shop did everything as stated.

Back in 1984 I bought my 1979 KW K100, had a 350 BC 1 with a 10 spd, (I dropped a 13 later). Was a well maintained truck but back then there service intervals were top notch, we all know today manufacturers recommend service intervals anywhere from 30k-50k. I don’t if they follow those routines today or what, but if I had a choice, I wouldn’t purchase one today from them. Actually to be more specific, I bought my KW from a Mack dealer and this truck was not on the front line, it was in the rear but had all the Penske colors. It was a excellent truck however since I was somewhat green at the time, I missed the crack frame that had been patch incorrectly. Still drove it for awhile before I caught it. I had sleeve installed and it never failed me. Hence, I still have that same truck parked at home. I drove it from 1984 to 2007. With only one inframe.
