I got my third truck through Quality and I am currently leased onto FedEx Custom Critical. My first truck from Quality is paid off with title in hand so as long as you find a decent company to lease onto you shouldn't have any trouble.....just don't go to Celedon/Eagle though.
ibcalm19 and Expedite69 Thank this. -
I currently am in a L/P and my experience is it's not easy. I do as much repair and maintenance myself and I don't have a lot of knowledge about Diesel engines. I'm good with a grease gun. My truck is a 2005 Pete. The senior drivers told me to keep it and avoid the new trucks. A lot of drivers quitting that had the newer trucks. Payments and insurance is expensive. I do baby the truck and it's been doing me good. Now I need tires. I'll get the steer tires first then I'll get the drive tires next. My plan was to get to know the truck and then get it financed. The banks want me to be in business for 2 years before they give me a loan. Threw that plan out the door. Our contract says we get 68% of the load 70% of fuel surcharge and detention. We pay shag fees as well. Hence why I wanted to get financing right away. As a whole L/P isn't easy and luck has a part in it. My goal is to get financing before the end of summer so I can drive part time. Elogs are a big reason why. I'll keep my eye on this thread and I'll try to answer questions if I can.
ibcalm19 Thanks this. -
And this is why freight rates are so much lower than they should be. We got all these jokers perfectly happy running a business for less than company driver wages.
Guys if you are doing to go into business do it to make more money, not less.Last edited: May 24, 2017
Metalhead5052, mxpx148, ibcalm19 and 2 others Thank this. -
driverdriver and MachoCyclone Thank this.

Remember that 68% of a load at one company could be better pay then 80% at another. Try and get as much info as you can.
driverdriver Thanks this. -
Majestic 670 has a good point about getting a lawyer to look over a contract.

It's quality leasing that was cooking the books. They are owned by Celadon. They are all messed up.

Hence need lawyer to look at contract and why I wanted to finance the truck sooner than later
