I just moved to AZ recently. I read through the ADOT website and transfering a CDL seems fairly straightforward. However transferring a Hazmat endorsement isnt as clear. It does state that the remaining time on a background check will transfer over, but the knowledge test will need to be retaken. Fair enough. But do I have to take it and pass it the day I go in, or is there some kind of grace period?
My concern is I'd go in and turn in my old license, get my AZ I'd, and fail the #### Hazmat by one question and not get the endorsement right away, causing me to miss work for which the HME is required until I go back and pass it. Now we may only be talking a matter of a day or two to go back and pass but that's time I could be working.
Can anyone clarify this for me?

my time left over from first fingerprint, transferred. i had to take the test again, and again.
fairly easy to do. Did it at Goodyear. -
Download the “dmv genie” app on your phone. It’s a free app. You can take practice hazmat test over and over on the app. Practice while you wait at dmv for your number to be called. You will ace the test no problem.

AZ HM test has a few stupid trick questions, but there's a website with state-specific tests which had the same ones. In general it should be an easy and cheap move.

Dmv genie app you can specifically choose Arizona also
CJ701 Thanks this. -
there is a section on this page (AZ DOT) about Hazmat related things, as well as some other useful information. I believe every time you change states you have to retake the Hazmat knowledge test, that's what I was told when I talked to the DMV in Texas.

My question is will they essentially give you a 90 day extension on your new AZ ID or are you required to take the test right away and pass it immediately before you can have your HME on your AZ ID. -
oops sorry read the title and assumed you didn’t. My bad

When I moved to Alaska I got zero extension.
