    This might be a dumb question, but how hard will it be for me as a felon, to get a trucking job? I’m about to turn 21 in a couple of months and I’m going to enter school soon. Will it be hard for me to get a job here in South Carolina? Is it a dead end? Located in Columbia, SC.

    You’ll get a job but don’t expect the best companies to want you until it’s been 10 years.

    Source: I’m a felon and was told 10 years by many companies when I started out. Luckily it had already been 9 years when I got my CDL

    Can you point me in the right direction to which companies to apply for? I just don’t want to waste my time. I made a mistake but most employers don’t think of it that way. Also it happened 3 years ago.

    Many companies look at felonies on a case by case basis.
    You won't have any problem finding a trucking job.
    You need trucking companies that hire 21 yr. old drivers.
    We can give you some names. Many cut some slack for felons and waive some things on their websites.
    Get a cdl school start date, then submit online applications that are on the websites.
    Some will reimburse the cdl school tuition back to you.

    Yeah I’m going to wait till I’m 21 but my birthday is coming up. Are those companies here in SC?

    Your age will be more problematic than your felony, dependingon what it is.
    Heck in SC, some companies might require you to be a felon.
