Like the title says. Do pilot car companies engaged in running interstate have any kind of Fmcsa registration? If so, is there a way to look them up like we do for carriers with a Safer search?
I am looking for this info for a company called:
Waids Pilot Car Services LLC
1616 Fairhope Rd
Roanoke, Va 24017
Question: Do Pilot Car companies need a DOT number/Authority?

Not regulated by FMCSA.
Pilots cars are dealt with by each state. Some require them to be registered with the state DOT to make sure they are legit. Lots of pilots running around without the correct insurance or certifications. -
Waid Shannon
Also seems to have a second and possibly a third business at that address. Looks like it’s a house.
