So the Frito Lay about 30 minutes from my house in Tennessee is hiring CDL A drivers. I am just curious and have some questions. Does anyone know anything about driving for Frito Lay? I know from the ad it is a seniority based bidding system and there are some hand unloads involved. Also I understand sometimes I may be laid over somewhere. I couldn't find a number for a recruiter and didn't want to just blindly apply.

We had a family friend years ago that was a local driver for them for a long time and he loved his job. He passed away 15 years ago but retired there.
However, from the way he talked things were changing and not for the better before he retired. He was glad it was his time to get out. And judging by the way they are ALWAYS hiring in some areas, it appears they have a lot of turnover.
I’ve been told the interview is odd and consists of them trying to trip you up asking situational questions how you would handle things. And I’ve heard a lot of times they offer big $ and promise this and that and it ends up being part-time and you have to beg for runs/hours, which may also explain the constant “now hiring” signs.
That’s all I know about them. It may vary by location.rabbiporkchop and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
It is full time now most of the time, but with any seniority job it won’t be great to start. However a brand new driver should make close to $1,500 a week to start. $2,000 plus is doable with time.

With your background, have you looked at tanker jobs in your area? @Chinatown i'd be lame to say I even knew if there were any, but for somebody starting his career and fulfilling with 'maybe' Prime... there's gotta be SOMETHING better than hauling chips. But for the bennines; I LOVE FRITOS~!!

Thanks everyone for the replies. This is really helpful. I don't so much mind the physical part of the job or even being low on the seniority for a while I realize that comes with the job. However the extra board thing kind of does concern me. I want to be able to at least run and make decent money. Yes it would be Fayetteville Tn where I would apply. I keep hearing things also about being on call 24/7 so I am not really sure right now.

When I was at Mclane I would stack my 2 wheeler with boxes of Frito lay chips. I was thinking to myself I could do this all day compared to a wheeler full of Pizza Hut dough. Frito lay im sure has boxes of dip to unload but compared to US Foods, Sysco, Mclane etc probably night and day easier.
