Was interested in converting the tractor to trailer coiled lines to a quick fit connection / coupler at the truck. Ever broke an airline in the freezing weather and try to spin that whole new airline on to get the threads started on the truck side!? A quick fit connection would make for a quick and simple air line r&r.

So anyways, 4 state trucks has the fittings but they do not have “DOT-3” casted on them. I was under the impression that all quick fit connection / couplers must have that printed on it to be in code. Am I thinking to hard about this or is it not legal? Anyone know or got an opinion?

    Thanks

Just get rubber air lines and you will no longer have to worry about cracked and brittle lines when it gets cold.

Yeah that’s true too. Would be nice to also use the quick connects to supply air to power tools. Those rubber lines always seemed weird to me on a flatbed with a headache rack. Seems like the wouldn’t flex right or will have to much slack.

But the Dot-3 part, I don’t know, hmmm...

Yup... nice! Is it attached up to with a spring so it can stretch? Or does it not need to?

I personally do not think that industrial Quick Connects are reliable enough for semi truck use. As they might disconnect

I have had much fewer problems with the quick connects than any gladhands I’ve used since 1992.

I will never go back to gladhands on my own equipment!!!!

Yeah know the feeling quite well when one is out in the out back and your airlines break while doing a U turn to have all your brakes lock up and you have to drag the thing fully loaded out of the road. Would be nice to have some hoses that are less brittle.

    KB3MMX Thanks this.
