I have Ram 3500 dually 6.7 diesel engine and noise coming from Turbo when up to 20psi on turbo , i went to official ram service and they said it's waste gate on turbo and I'm okay for now untill check engine light come on but if i want the fix it right now they have to change whole turbo ( 5500$ ) they said.
I do not get it and not trusted , is not possible the change just the waste gate ?
Thank you.

Find a turbo specialist shop and ask them.
Lite bug Thanks this. -
Suggest that if it is not on warranty to stay away from the stealers. The majority of these pickup sellers are not staffed with any real proficient diesel engine techies. That was my experience with Ford before and now that I have one of these Cummins, I will be staying away from RAM shops when warranty is off.
There are many well experienced light duty diesel guys around and I would be surprised if you couldn't save a massive amount of money. 5500 sounds like robbery, IMHO -
You should go sign up at one of the Ram forums and ask them first (or try the search maybe)
Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum
My hunch is that you could probably find a good used one for $500 on Ebay and install it yourself, but I'm not a Ram guy so IDK for sure.wecihi Thanks this. -
Coming in late, I am not sure on the newer 6.7's but on the earlier versions, 2007.5 and forward, there is no wastegate, there is an electronic actuator that changes the variable geometry of the turbo. When in doubt, take it to Cummins, they'll sort it.
