That’s pure old‑hand gospel. That’s the kind of thing a man only says after he’s been lied to by dispatch, misled by a forklift driver, and tricked by a scale house at 2 AM in
Devine, TX.

 

I’m back to the top of the extra board, having a bid was fun while it lasted.

 

We bid on runs and the guy who takes #1 extraboard to pass on everything decided to take a run, screwing up the program. Now i’m #1 on the extraboard.

 

Do you have the option on vacation runs & time off runs (FLMA)? If so, that's a good deal at large terminals.

 

I got my first bid run last January and bumped off it in April. It was the 'worst' bid run - I made gate 18% of the time and 14 hour days were the norm - I was racing the first round of city drivers to in gate. All summer long the city guys have been greeting me with variations of "Hi Roger, you're not supposed to be here yet". Har-Fricking-Har. I'm looking forward to being back on that 'worst run' in two weeks. It's going to suck in so many ways, but I can't begin to explain how much I hate waiting on the extra board call. I get called between 1700 and 1800, and need to leave the house between 1800 and 19:15. Once the phone rings, that's it, I'm up. And if I wake up before the phone rings? Yeah, I'm up because I know the phone's going to be ringing in 30 minutes to an hour, so my mind won't let me roll over and go back to sleep. When it's an alarm clock, I can go back to sleep no problem - anticipating a phone call? Yeah, no, I'm up.

 

Yeah I’ll be covering both. I’m at a smaller terminal, we only have 6 bid runs. I’m just not a big fan of getting called all the time or chancing a hub run but I’ll embrace the suck.

 

#### lol. Yeah I’m gonna be getting called between 1700 and 1800 mainly then I have to call at 2100 for the hub.
