No :( I think only 1400 and change. Do I get any credit towards tarping for my use of some blankets at least?

Sure. We'll add the partial credit from the straps to the blanket wrap to make a whole point. Then you can train @TallJoe how to be a flatbedder.

A lot of these things, you can also learn from other drivers, if one is not arrogant. When I first started, I had no specific training but I did have some experience securing freight in a military environment, and my first OTR job, was with that book close at hand, beside asking other drivers for pointers...but I read the book first...so I knew what kinds of questions to ask. There were a few things that I learned from training that I got later...but for the most part, that training only helped reinforce the information in that book and the proper use of the DOT book in interpreting the required minimum ways to secure freight, and being willing to humbly ask for feedback from fellow drivers. Which is why most flatbedders know that despite the malaise in trucking in general, flatbedders tend to help one another.

My point is, it can be done by someone who is serious about doing it, doing it right, and using the "forward thinking" problem solving approach. :)

Sadly I think Joe lives in the wrong part of the country for my flatbed knowledge to be any use to him. All I hauled for 10 years was wood, salt, and wheat. We didn’t even carry chains and binders. 20 straps was all we needed.

That's an interesting trailer configuration you had going on there.

$6 now in Ohio, $7 in California.

This is getting out of control.

It's a northwest setup. Even the reefers and vans up there have 4 axles on trailer

Typical Northwest setup with a steerable lift on the back. Idaho has requirements for trailers over 48ft if you want to run off of National Network roads.

Edit: I need to read the following posts before replying. Lol. Didn’t see the question had been answered already.
