If we are lucky, it's gonna be Q4 I think. The whole Q3 gotta stay really bad for the people who don't know what they are doing to get out.

It's very clear there has been a big downturn in the industry.
It's obvious everywhere at this point.

I get It's not cool to be the bearer of bad news.
Sure every situation is not the same, there may be some out there locked in on a dedicated contract paying a fortune but as far as the "industry as a whole"

That’s the best news I’ve heard in a while.

This whole thread is flawed. Rates haven't "crashed", and as far as we know there's still no fuel on the moon.

My gross has increased to compensate for fuel. You might just suck at trucking.

Maybe start an industry forecasting business?

What there was is a huge surge in demand and rates reflected it. It couldn’t last forever. Now we’re feeling the correction along with an added backlash. Complicating things with high fuel prices will only speed up the process. News can be reported in different ways. Rarely get the whole story. The strength of the dollar is a good example. When it’s strong, makes imported items cheaper. Also makes foreign investing here more expensive. When it’s weak, makes imports more expensive, and encourages foreign investment here. Both examples have positive and negative results. To be a good News story, the negative is often emphasized. Playing on fears. Economists will often emphasize the positive aspects. They understand it’s just a current trend. Eventually things will level out. End of the World stories never end. So many in our Country have become convinced things are terrible, and never been worse. They’re being propagated with constant negative news stories. The future looks very bleak to those 35 yrs and younger especially. It’s not a good trend. It’s becoming a self fulfilling prophecy for many. Perception is reality. I’ve survived much worse economic times. 1982 was a terrible year to be 18 yrs old trying to find a decent paying job. By comparison 1985 was excellent. By comparison only.

As I tell everyone in my life, I make as much as every other truck driver you know CLAIMS to make, and not a penny more.

Boasting? Nobody told me there would be boasting!

Are you serious or are you joking?
At the very start of the thread, perhaps things were not as bad but eventually, the thread got caught up with the reality.

If you are serious...What do you mean rates haven't crashed? They have, at least by 1/3rd of what they used to be. I have never seen fuel at $6.5 per gal, it is not even the moon we see from mother Earth, it is one of the moons that Mars has in its orbit. I don't know what your gross is now vs what it used to be...but unless you are leased on to someone having their own freight with their own customers but working on on the spot market then you are quite an exception and with so much talent to beat its mediocre rates.
If so, I could only wish I could have such abilities.

Guaranteed i'm no superstar, but my gross has increased. I'm sure many others doing the same, several posting here that they haven't seen an overall decrease.

Fuel is costing about .40 cpm more. My rates have risen equally. I’m not thrilled with paying extra for fuel, but I’m not in the soup line either.

Mainly I’m just angry that there is no real justification in the additional cost of fuel.
