Going through TruckPaper today and I just shake my head at these asking prices. I gravitate toward the newer 389s and they are still asking 10% to 20% over their purchase price. I assume their markup is to cover their finance charges they still owe but it's going to get ugly with repos and liquidations.

Call me crazy, but I think the best buy right now are gliders. Elkhorn finally has some new gliders in stock and I think a smart buyer would look hard at one. I replaced my two 389s in the past few months but if I didn't I'd strongly look at one....I might still. Between getting better fuel mileage and no DEF I could easily save $10K annually in fuel costs.

    I've got a 10 year old 600,000 mile freightshaker.

    First $100,000 takes it.

If it was cheap then you should be worried.
Has been reliable so don't wanna give it up.

    Wow, this world is whacko.

No real point to make. Just an observation while eating this piece of cake and not giving a rats ###.

What is this warranty you speak of? Sounds vaguely familiar.

An excellent take on how to "do business". You apparently have done well for your self from information I have observed here. You will do well in this new endeavor by applying your proven methods. Just takes a little time for the needers to understand it is us providers they need to call. Took us 7 months in the forklift business, then just handled the incoming.

He’s got the right attitude. He’ll succeed no doubt, in whatever he does. I used to be that way. Now it’s more like, “You’re Lucky I’m hauling your Freight, Don’t call Us, we’ll call you.” I get tired of the aggravation from some of the Brokers. I miss the time before cell phone tethers, and being left alone. That was always the best thing about Driving, being left alone. Calling in only if there’s a problem, and only if I wanted them to know. Making it happen all on my own. Imagine that!! A lot of the fun and especially the challenge is gone. Drivers have been saying it for years. Now it’s never been more true. Being retired, you’re not missing anything. Retirement has become my new challenge and goal.

It's that thing that sounds really good when you buy a new truck but whenever you need repairs it's 50/50 if it's covered under warranty and will always take 1 week to get approval before the OEM will pay to fix it.
